These include the building structure, insulation, air infiltration, HVAC, appliances and home ventilation. An assessment helps to determine where there is energy loss and, consequently, the cause of high utility bills. One of the main culprits is often a compromised barrier between conditioned and unconditioned spaces. A conditioned space is one that’s heated and cooled with the rest of the house. An unconditioned space is one that is not heated or cooled (for example, the garage or attic).
